"Service above Self"
Our Rotary Club promotes fellowship and engages in a dozen local and global service projects every year.  Ongoing projects range from the important local community ones, such as honoring Burlington's fine Police Department and its many civilian supporters, Wood for Good, Salvation Army "Ringers" , awarding medals to incredible athletes at the Special Olympics of Vermont Summer Games, to the international ones, such as Hands for Honduras and Pure Water for the World, and much, MUCH more.
Everyone is expected to give a little of our time, a little of our treasure, and our skills. "Service above Self" is not just a slogan here; it is a way of life for the Rotary Club of Burlington - and for the other 32,000 Rotary Clubs around the world.

Why Join the Rotary Club of Burlington ? (The first club chartered in this region - 100 years ago - January 22, 1923)

We offer a way to experience Burlington's rich civic and city life while also expanding your international scope.  The core of the club's fellowship begins with breakfast meetings we have, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, featuring distinguished and stimulating speakers from outside the club, and from within the member base itself, interspersed with the other, sometimes "interesting" meeting activities.  These key and quick meetings create and keep you informed of timely "hands on" community-based events and projects.  You will build friendships among business, civic, and professional leaders who share their affinity for Burlington, but also have that global outlook.  You will be enriched and educated on topics of local, national, and international interest.  From such interactions, you also elect to support international exchange programs and other program-related travel opportunities.  From that core outward - members' joining in on the service projects, and their philanthropy, support the people of Burlington, Chittenden County, the State of Vermont, our Nation, and partnering international communities.
Also... we need you! Our club seeks young and mature folks who are able to take some time out of their busy schedules to act on that desire to help. (If you read this far, you're likely just right for Rotary.)

Membership in Burlington Rotary will allow you to expand global understanding. We seek to build a diverse brother-and-sisterhood. At most meetings, we welcome business travelers and vacationers from the world of Rotary.  (By the way, clubs in Canada are members of our District, too.)  In practice, Rotary Club of Burlington's goal is to promote a peaceful, prosperous, just, and sustainable world in partnership with all of Rotary.  Help us with that goal. You CAN make a difference.

We welcome you to drop by the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center of Burlington, 505 Lake Street, Burlington at 5:00 PM every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.  Sample Rotary, and see if membership is for you.  Ask for an orientation.  Join. Try it out, and use our exclusive Rotary resources.  Be a part of the 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders from more than 200 countries who are dedicated to the advancement of international understanding and who are providing humanitarian service and building goodwill and peace in the world.

Yours in Service,

Edward J. Murphy, CPA CFP(R)
