Professor David Mindich provided an analysis of current trends among young people regarding their awareness of the news and current events.

In his new book, "Tuned Out: Why Americans Under 40 Don't Follow the News", he claims that the perception that most young people have chosen the Internet as an alternative to traditional media outlets is false.

Instead, he says, most young people have opted out of news consumption altogether. He told the Rotary Club that this trend is dangerous to democracy, and encouraged members to create an environment at home in which news and current events are discussed and understood.
