August 16 Program
Sara Haggerty and Liz Fotouhi, Fun for Change and The Haunted Forest
For 24 years, the Haunted Forest has been a beloved community tradition in Chittenden County. Starting out as a small fund-raiser for the Audubon Society in Huntington, The Haunted Forest eventually became so popular that it outgrew its home. That's when an intrepid group of volunteers stepped in.
Starting anew, the group formed a 501c3 non-profit organization and found a new, larger site for the event at the Catamount Family Center in Williston. Now into its third year at the Catamount, The Haunted Forest is getting ready to welcome nearly 6,000 paying audience members through its gates in the evening hours from Wednesday October 20th, through Saturday October 23rd. For small children, matinees will be held both on Saturday, and on Sunday the 24th.
The Haunted Forest is supported every year by nearly 500 community volunteers who collaborate to carve pumpkins, paint sets and act in a variety of Halloween-themed skits in the woods. It's a great way for young and old alike to come together and celebrate this traditional harvest festival.
Tickets go on sale September 13th, and can be purchased by calling 879-9160. If you would like to participate as a volunteer in this year's event, please call Sara Haggerty at 238-0923.
