Bojan Vuckovic, Vermont Voltage
The Vermont Voltage are one of the most surprising success stories in United States soccer, if not American professional sports. After claiming the prestigious United Soccer League's Progress of the Year Award in 2000, Voltage management earned honors as the Premier Development League's (PDL) Organization of the Year for 2001 and Marketing Excellence Award for 2002. Both the Burlington Free Press and the St. Albans Messenger have extensively covered and proclaimed the Voltage's rise.
The Voltage have achieved unparalleled success on the field. After acquiring the team, owner-coach-player Bojan "Bo" Vuckovic guided the Voltage to an 11-6-2 campaign in 2000 and the team's first playoff appearance. The Voltage finished the 2002 season with the best record in team history at 22-5-4 and won the title of the PDL's highly competitive Northeast Division. Indeed, the Voltage secured the right to host the championship playoff matches of the PDL's Eastern Conference.
