Blanche Podhajski, PH.D., Educator and President of the Stern Center, addressed the Club.

Speaking to the Club, Ms. Padhajski emphasized the Center's commitment to ensure that "no child is left behind" when it comes to reading skills.

Stressing that reading programs need to be based on scientific research, Ms. Podhajski said that all teachers need effective training based on research, rather than focusing on the latest learning "fad."

"Students with learning disabilities do not have a cognitive impairment," she said. "Early identification and intervention is very important."
