February 10 Program
Timothy Donovan, President, Community College of Vermont
With an enrollment of 5,000 students per semester, CCV is the second-largest university in Vermont. Through 12 learning facilities located throughout the State, the College provides educational opportunities and Associate Degrees
for adults with a range of backgrounds and aspirations.
President Donovan honored the Rotary by drawing a parallel between our two organizations: "What the Rotary stives to achieve through service, we strive to achieve through education," he said.
His words were backed by an inspirational video featuring interviews with students at the college. All of these adults expressed gratitude for the opportunities that have been provided to them through the College, opportunities that have taken some of them towards rewarding careers they had never considered possible.
Many of the students go on to four-year universities after receiving their Associates degree. At the University of Vermont for example, most if not all who apply are matriculated as juniors, with all credits earned at CCV accepted.
CCV is truly a wonderful resource for Vermonters, whether they were born here or have moved here from abroad. We honor President Donovan for his 26 years of service at the college, and for helping its students reach levels of fulfillment that they might otherwise have never achieved.
