In 1995-96 Kurth was the author of Tsar: The Lost World of Nicholas and Alexandra and co-author (with Eleanor Lanahan) of Zelda: An Intimate Portrait, a pictorial biography of Zelda Fitzgerald. UVM Rotaract Club & Norwich University Cybersecurity effort around Superbowl
Jan. 22, 2018
Daphne Larkin, director of media relations and community affairs, will present on Norwich University as a community resource with an emphasis on cybersecurity. This includes learning opportunities such as Norwich’s Annual Cyber Summit, CISSP certification, drone license exam prep course, and the free GenCyber camp. Daphne will share her experiences of working with students and faculty who – as the only university involved – supported cybersecurity at Super Bowl 50, which was held at the country’s most technically advanced stadium, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Entering into its third century of educating tomorrow’s ethical leaders, Norwich today is a national leader in cybersecurity education and research. Norwich offers undergraduate and graduate programs; civic engagement with Vermont businesses; and designs and implements tools to protect federal critical infrastructure. Norwich is a community resource also in the many free lecture series it offers, symposia and other programs. There are opportunities to engage via Norwich’s five centers of excellence in the areas of sustainability, cyber (as noted), leadership and change, civic engagement, and peace and war. Daphne will touch on who Norwich is structurally and how we serve Vermont from prospective students to college students to businesses/government and internationally. |

UVM Foundation
Apr. 30, 2018
With the establishment of the University of Vermont Foundation, UVM has signaled its intent to become more engaged in the broader scope of American philanthropy. Incorporated in 2011, the UVM Foundation is empowered to perform a wide range of services and conduct a variety of activities that support the University in its mission of teaching, research, and public service. The Foundation offers influential and committed alumni and other donors the opportunity to serve UVM in ways that did not previously exist, focusing their collective influence, experience, and energy on realizing the UVM Foundation mission. With a bottom line focus and singular attention to philanthropy, the Foundation board will inspire greater support from the institution’s top donors and extend the ability of the professional staff to engage donors in fundraising efforts. At the same time, the UVM Foundation will shift the burden of development expenses from the University’s general fund to the Foundation, increasing the amount of discretionary general-fund dollars available to the institution. The Foundation and its volunteer board will also provide a structure that transcends the normal transitions that occur at higher education institutions, providing a continuity of message and focus during even the most turbulent times |
